What we are — and are not

Mad Honey Finder is a consumer-safety directory covering grayanotoxin-bearing rhododendron honey (Nepalese cliff honey, Turkish deli bal). We are not medical professionals. Nothing on this site is medical advice. Grayanotoxin intoxication can cause serious cardiovascular and neurological effects — if you are symptomatic, call Poison Control or go to an emergency department.

Who writes

Content is produced by our editorial team — independent writers who synthesize peer-reviewed toxicology literature, public poisoning case reports, and regulatory records into consumer-facing explainers.

We do not use fabricated medical-reviewer personas. Any named contributor will have a public, independently verifiable professional footprint linked from their byline.

Primary sources we cite

  • Peer-reviewed literature: PubMed-indexed research on grayanotoxin pharmacology, case reports of intoxication, and cardiac-effect studies.
  • National regulators: Turkish Ministry of Agriculture, Nepali Ministry of Forests, EU Rapid Alert System for Food and Feed (RASFF).
  • Public poisoning registries: national poisons centres and case-series publications.

Brand and product coverage

We list brands that publicly market mad honey. Listing is not an endorsement. We describe what sellers claim, what lab data (if any) supports those claims, and what is known about country-level legality. We do not invent star ratings, customer reviews, or aggregate scores.

AI disclosure

We use AI tooling for research assistance, draft outlines, and formatting. No page is published without editorial review. We do not publish AI-generated user reviews, AI-invented case reports, or fabricated medical-reviewer credentials. Earlier versions of this site contained a fabricated reviewer persona; that material has been removed during the 2026-04 editorial reset.

Corrections
